CP Big Sport Heritage and Sport

The project “Heritage & Sport” encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport to increase the level of physical activity of children in primary education (6 to 11 years of age) with mental, developmental and physical disabilities. Where we will be focused on the groups that have most obstacles to overcome, in doing sports activities, sport games and exercising, such as (Autism, Intellectual Disability, Down syndrome, Low Cognitive Ability, vision impairments, hearing loss and different physical disabilities etc.). Professional experts from the project partner countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Greece and Turkey) will develop a handbook of traditional European games and sport from partner countries, which will be adjusted to the needs of children with disabilities.

PROJECT TOPICs:
Sport activity, children with special needs, traditional games & sports

PROJECT PRIORITIES:

  • “Encouraging the participation in sport and physical activity”: the main objective of project is to increase inclusion and level of physical activity of children. Project outputs as sport program, guide of best practices will be designed to encourage participation in sport activity. Outputs will be focused on providing equal access to increase inclusion of children with special needs.
  • “Encouraging healthy lifestyles for all”. Project goal is to increase the level of sport activity of children with special needs, the idea of healthy lifestyle is one of the project cornerstones. The developed sport methodology, curriculum for teachers, best practices for sport activity and which will be developed during the project are all designed to promote healthy lifestyle for all. During the project life time we will organize promotional events, workshop & online trainings and sport events where we will inform trainers, volunteers, youth workers about the importance of healthy lifestyle.
  • “Combating violence and tackling racism, discrimination and intolerance”: Project outputs where designed to combat current exclusion of children with special needs. Increase the sport activity of children with mental, developmental and physical disabilities increase their inclusion, combat discrimination based on their disabilities and contribute to prevention of European heritage.

TARGET GROUPs

The project’s target groups: children in primary education programs (age 6 – 11 years) with mental, developmental and physical disabilities which occur in combination with mental disabilities; trainers, volunteers and teachers participating in sport events; trained volunteers, trainers, youth workers, staff from partner organizations.

WP4: Dissemination of Project Outputs and Activities

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Transnational project meetings: Greece will host the Kickoff Meeting, Slovenia will host the Mid-Term Evaluation Meeting, and Croatia will be the venue for Final Evaluation Meeting. 

Sport Events,Workshop training for volunteers and Online training for volunteers will be organised in all partner countries including Slovenia,Croatia,Turkey,Serbia,Italy and Greece.
