The PREVENT project aims at giving new and concrete opportunities to teachers and families to increase\u00a0<\/span><\/span>students\u2019 capacity<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for recognizing<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>fundamental values and principles for tolerance, understanding and dialogue. The\u00a0<\/span><\/span>project prepares<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>activities\u00a0<\/span><\/span>used\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to foster pre-teens students<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ability to respect other\u2019s opinions and point of view, appreciate diversity, thus increasing their flexibility and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>tolerance toward \u2018the different\u2019 and \u2018the others\u2019.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    APPROACH \/ METHODOLOGY:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

    The project is based on the suggestion made at the OSCE 2015 \u201cWorking\u00a0<\/span><\/span>With<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Youth and For Youth: Protection Against Radicalization\u201d, that suggests that building the capacity of front-line actors, such as teachers and social workers, as well as promoting training in schools, can strengthen young people\u2019s knowledge and skills to understand and reject violent extremism and radicalization.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Methodology used includes:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    • Co-creation of contents and specific knowledge in the different topics touched by the project, updated and upgraded to fit and meet the specific needs of the trainers and teachers in the partnership.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
    • Using problem solving, analytical skills, empathy, intuition, cognitive skills in association with solid knowledge over other cultures, traditions and\u00a0behaviours\u00a0tied to socio-economic context.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      TARGET GROUPs:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

      The<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>irect target group<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of the project are therefore educators (teachers, parents) and institutions involved in children\u2019s education, such as primary schools.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

      • (50) Teachers \u2013 both in service or in training<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>

            The web-based inventory is a collection of techniques, resources and tools based on non-formal and informal education, the partners will prepare to be used with the schoolchildren, in particular pre-teens. The overall aim of the product is to reinforce in children their level of tolerance, understanding and dialogue, increase their ability to respect other\u2019s opinions and point of\u00a0view, appreciate diversity, thus increasing their flexibility and tolerance toward \u2018the different\u2019 and \u2018the others\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

            • IO 2:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Ready to use lessons to foster global citizenship:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

              Toolkit for organizing at school and in class activities is composed of:<\/span><\/p>

              *10 SHORT LESSONS on key topics as global citizenship, human rights, democracy, social justice, pros and cons of\u00a0globalisation, and other topics the partners will select and that are relevant for our children development and civic preparation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

              *10 WHAT IF GAMES using both National, EU level and other international events teachers will offer real facts on a major incident happened in recent history and ask children to offer solutions for a more positive outcome.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

              *10 SCRIPTS FOR CLASS ACTIVITIES: instruction to run a quick-to-set-up class activity as role-play and games that can be used as introduction or follow-up to other lessons.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

              IO 3:\u00a0<\/span>Handbook for teachers, educators and parents:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

              The product contents\u00a0contains\u00a0readings and materials to increase educators\u2019 preparation and knowledge on radicalization, distinguishing between patriarchal traditions or religious\u00a0interpretations, and in general given then enough information to help children differentiate among what is the cultural element, what is the deviation and make sure that a deviant\u00a0behaviour\u00a0will be not associated with a religion or a cultural trait or believe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

              Pilot testing:<\/strong><\/p>

              6 Pilot Testing (1 per partner organization) involving 20 schools.<\/span><\/p>

              1. Presentations to the teachers and how to use the products\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
              2. 1-day-workshop for administrators and school principals\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
              3. face to face meeting with headmasters and other managerial staff at the local\/regional level that can contribute to smoothing the pilot activities implementation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

                Multiplier Event:<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

                They are organized at the end of the project, in each partner\u2019s countries. The aim of the event is specifically looking for organizations and professionals that might be interested in using the program in their schools or directorate, and with their target groups and exploit and sustain it in the future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
