A Path to TransportAction<\/strong><\/h1>\n

MVNGO is a partner organization in the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building Youth project “A Path to TranSportAction\u201d (APTSA), coordinated by the Croatian organization “Rijeka Sport’s Association”, The project involves a total of 5 organizations from Europe (Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria) and Latin America (Brazil and Peru)<\/strong>, whose main aim is to enhance the capacity of youth organizations and stakeholders in all partner countries and beyond to use Sport in combination with high-end Non Formal Education methodologies<\/strong> for fostering a gender-inclusive approach to Sport practices, contrasting sexism and gender stereotypes and promoting equality and mutual respect among genders in disadvantaged rural areas<\/strong> in Europe and in Latin America.<\/p>\n

Low female participation in Sport is an important component of gender-based disadvantage<\/strong>. General prejudice considering Sport as an almost exclusive field of male engagement, coupled by machist self-representations which permeate most Sport sub-culture, is at the same time a telling effect and self-perpetuatin\u00d5g mechanism of gender discrimination. Sport is a powerful educational vehicle<\/strong> for disadvantaged targets to acquire crucial soft skills, transversal skills and positive attitudes of self-confidence and active participation<\/strong>, key components of any grassroots process of empowerment<\/strong>. Through its inner dynamics of peer-interaction and fair competition<\/strong> among people with diverse backgrounds, Sport provides also an invaluable experiential path to promote mutual respect and deconstruct prejudices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

APTSA aims to tackle these phenomena by producing a series of outputs throughout the 24 months of the cooperation:<\/p>\n

– A Format TC<\/strong> providing youth operators with knowledge, skills and NFE tools to involve local youth targets (males and females) in educational activities based on Sport and NFE to convey awareness and competences fostering female participation in Sport, rejection of gender stereotypes and respect of gender differences and sensibilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– A Youth Exchange<\/strong> testing the methodologies employed in project TC with a representation of final youth targets from each partner country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– A Local Activities Phase<\/strong> in all partner counties involving local youngsters from disadvantaged rural areas<\/strong> (30 males and 30 females) per each partner country.<\/p>\n

– A Web Platform<\/strong> storing the materials produced in the project as e-learning modules<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The project foresees the following activities:<\/p>\n

1- Kick-off Meeting<\/strong> at Rijeka (Croatia)<\/p>\n

Participants: 10 youth workers (2 per partner organization)<\/p>\n

2- Training Course “Another gender of Sport”<\/strong> at Rijeka (Croatia)<\/p>\n

Participants: 20 youth workers and leaders (4 per partner organization)<\/p>\n

3- Youth Exchange “Playing Together, Living Equality”<\/strong> at Sassari (Italy)<\/p>\n

Participants: 30 youngsters aged 18-25 from disadvantaged rural areas (6 per partner country, of whom 3 males and 3 females)<\/p>\n

4- Local Activities Phase<\/strong> in all partner countries<\/p>\n

Participants: 60 local youngsteers from disadvantaged rural areas (30 males and 30 females) in each partner country<\/p>\n

5- Creation of a project Web Platform<\/strong><\/p>\n

6- Final Evaluation Meeting<\/strong> at Porto Alegre (Brazil)<\/p>\n

Participants: 10 youth workers (2 per partner country<\/p>\n

A first draft of the Manual on Gender Equality through Sport was developed by participants in APTSA<\/em><\/p>\n
