Fostering inclusion of LGBTQI+ migrants at local level

@nclusion project aims at capitalizes on the knowledge and results of the several successfully completed AMIF, E+ and REC projects, and comes to complement, extend and/or innovate them, by:

a) fostering the synergy and cooperation between LGBTQI+ organizations, migrants’ organizations and communities, and local authorities in the design of effective plans/strategies/measures for the inclusion of LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees.

b) building the knowledge and skills of LGBTQI+ organizations, migrants’ organizations and communities, and local authorities for cooperation in LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees’ integration at local level.

c) adapting good practices in “buddying” and mentoring models/schemes to address the needs of LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees (as all are targeting migrants or refugees in general).

Target Groups:

Main target group: migrants’ organizations and communities, LGBTQI+ organizations and local authorities

The cooperation of which is essential for effectively identifying, understanding and addressing the needs of this vulnerable group, with a view of improving all aspects of their integration (health, employment/labour market integration, education and training, housing).

Indirect target group: the project focuses on LGBTQI+ migrants and refugees as they have specific needs and vulnerabilities (incl. those in need of international protection)

 

Project Objectives:

1. Increase awareness and know-how of local authorities/policymakers on challenges faced by LGBTQI+ migrants as well as increase inclusion of LGBTQI+ migrants issues in dialogue between policy makers

2. inclusion of LGBTQI+ migrants in actions by LGBTQI+ organizations and at the same time increase synergy and cooperation between LGBTQI+ organizations and migrants’ organizations, and local authorities

3. Develop and implement local integration strategies for LGBTQI+ (focusing on early integration, long term integration, and the building of inclusive and cohesive communities)

4. Increase access to information for LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees about practices and services in the host countries

 

Abstract:

@nclution aims to build cooperation and coordination among local authorities, migrant’s and LGBTQI+’s organizations and communities, in Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland & Spain, in order to support the implementation of local integration strategies that promote LGBTQI+ migrants and refugees inclusion.

More specifically, the project will implement the following main activities:

– Identification of the needs for changes in attitudes and processes towards LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees

– Capacity building and sensitization programme for 300 staff/volunteers/members of migrants’ organizations, 300 staff/volunteers/ members of LGBTQI+ organizations, and 300 staff of local authorities.

– Implementation of rainbow buddies’ schemes for 300 newly arrived migrants and refugees

– Information portal on local services for LGBTQI+ migrants & refugees in several languages
