MigrActionS (MAS)

According to the “Action Plan on the integration of third-country nationals” adopted by the EC on the 7th June 2016, Education and training are the most powerful tools for integration and the acquisition of basic skills is the foundation for further learning and the gateway to employment and social inclusion. In 2017, the number of people who immigrated to Germany exceeded the number of those who emigrated by roughly 416,000 people and the total population with migrant background reached 19.3 million. In 2016, net immigration had amounted to roughly 500,000. For the City of Essen, the interaction of institutions, specialist service providers, and organizations with the local migrant organizations is an important component of the municipal integration strategy. These associations reach many residents with a variety of original backgrounds and cultures, and are often the first point of contact. This kind of organizations perform valuable integration tasks in their role as mediators and service providers. Germany has undergone extensive immigration and emigration flows throughout its history. Today, more than 22 percent of the population have a migration background. (…) The reactions among the population oscillated between euphoric readiness to take in refugees and violent rejection of those seeking protection, between a “welcome culture” and the demand for isolation, between cosmopolitanism and nationalism (J. Oltmer -2018).  

The project aims to enhance professional development of involved staff member learners due to the acquistion of skills of involved staff member learners, acquisition of knowledge and methodologies of applicant organization and a considerable impact on local communities

Exclusion experienced by Adult migrants consequently influence their descendants. For this reason, the promoter organisationJuBuK will widely benefit from the involvement of Trainers part of its own staff in a comprehensive educational programme, in connections with established European organizations in possession of specific expertise in the field of innovative instruments of nonformal learning who work both on youth and adult inclusion.  

JuBuK wants to invest in the empowerment of its human resources, Trainers, Educators and Board Members, in order to reach 3 different specific objectives: 

  1. Fostering the development of the capacities and operational variety of its staff of experienced educators, with a focus on ETS, NFE and Digital Storytelling in the Adult field.
  2. Establishing regular, long-term partnerships for the exchange of knowledge and good practices aswell as the presentation of joint initiatives, thus extending the scope and outreach of JuBuK’sinitiatives. 
  3. Acquisition of competences of project design and management in the field of specific interest of the organization within the Erasmus+ programme, related to the social support to foster integration and, thereby to the social inclusion and employability of Adults people with migrant background and minorities suffering from educational difficulties.  

Abovementioned objectives will be reached through 3 mobilities as follows: 

5 Trainers taking part in a TC in Italy delivered by the partner MVNGO aimed at developing knowledge, skills and methods to employ ETS methodologies with the ultimate target. 

5 Trainers taking part in the TC in Cyprus hosted by the partner DOREA aimed at acquiring knowledge and skills allowing them to improve NFE competences as well as integrate the Digital Storytelling approach in their regular activities, facilitating communication and intercultural dialogue within the ultimate target. 

2 Board Members taking part in a Job Shadowing comprised of work-based learning in the facilities of the host organization MVNGO, in which are envisaged regular exchange of good practices and brainstorming for the creation of partnership schemes and project proposals in the frame of Erasmus+ Programme KA1 and KA2 Adult Field.  

Main envisaged Impact and results of MigrActionS project are: 

– Enhanced professional development of involved staff member learners due to the acquisition of skills in using the educational approaches of ETS, NFE and Digital Storytelling in a fashion customized to the social needs of the ultimate target group of their regular activities (Adults with migrant background). 

– Applicant organization acquisition of knowledge and methodologies regarding unconventional instruments/approaches of education by the staff members taking part in project mobilities, internaly disseminated and operationally tested by the organization, will lay the grounds for a long-term enhancement in the number, quality and attractiveness of its regular activities with the ultimate target group. 

-A considerable and sustainable impact will be determined on local communities, in particular socialy excluded Adults with a migrant background through the improvement in number, quality and appeal of JuBuK’s activities targeted at serving the human development and social inclusion of these categories through educational methodologies. A long-term impact it is envisaged through the massive promotion and dissemination of project contents with stakeholders at local, regional, national and international levels.

As EVENTURES KOIN has already reached a high level expertise in social entrepreneurship in the frame of the business sector, board members after an internal debriefing decided it was time to bring the enterprise to another level. Due to the previous experiences matured in the cooperation with IASIS and the predisposition of the members to work with the Adult target, board members agreed to develop a pure social/educational branch focused on disadvantaged young Adults. Supported in the analysis of the wide target of disadvantaged Adults by the veteran IASIS, EVENTURES KOIN board members decided in full agreement to focus young Adult affected by Dyslexia who were forced in early school leave in order to fester a reintegration process in the educational system. Dyslexia is a learning disorder that can cause many difficulties, including problems with reading and writing. People with dyslexia have trouble matching the letters they read to the sounds those letters make. Dyslexia is typically diagnosed in childhood; so, many dyslexia guides focus on helping children manage symptoms of this condition. But dyslexia often continues into adulthood. Some children with dyslexia are not diagnosed until they reach adulthood, while some diagnosed adults find that their symptoms change as they age.  

JMEHE aims at developing competences and organizational capacities of educators with the specific target audience of young adult learners facing dislexia

Joint Methodologies to Empower Humanities Education (JMEHE) objectives are as follows: 1- Developing staff (Educators) competences and organizational capacities in the use of Non Formal Education as an instrument of enhancing the involvement in education and effectiveness of learning with the specific target audience of young Adult learners facing dislexia, who would like to go through a reintegration process in the educational system. 2- Developing staff (Educators) competences and organizational capacities in using Theatre in Education as a tool for enhancing the involvement in education and effectiveness of learning with the specific target audience of young Adult learners facing dislexia, who would like to go through a reintegration process in the educational system. 3- Setting up long-term mechanisms of partnership and regular exchange of information/good practices with high-end European organizations working in the field of Erasmus Plus Adult, thereby enhancing the scope and quality of the organization’s activities in the field.  

Mobilities envisaged in the project: 1) Training Course at Mine Vaganti NGO in Sassari (Italy). The Training Course involving 5 Trainers/Educators, will be delivered through Non Formal Education methodologies and focus on developing participants’ knowledge, skills and competences in using Non Formal Education as a tool for fostering the acquisition of soft skills and transversal skills by young Adults afected by dislexia. 2) Training Course at Asociatia Copii in Sanul Familiei in Bacau (Romania) The Training Course involving 5 Trainers/Educators, will be delivered through a combination of Non Formal Education, Theatre In Education and face-to-face learning. The core topic addressed will be the use of the Theatre in Education method as an instrument of support to learning, reflection and communication of knowledge. 3) Job Shadowing at Asociatia Copii in Sanul Familiei in Bacau (Romania). The Job Shadowing will involve 2 leading staff members of the applicant organization in a process of work-based learning, exchange of knowledge and partnership building in the premises of the partner Asociatia Copii in Sanul Familiei. The tangible result of the Job Shadowing will be the completion of project Manual (third section).  

EVENTURES ΚΟΙΝ aims to employ acquired knowledge and resulting operational capacities to determine an huge impact in its areas of involvement, favouring the establishment of multiplier dynamics. A considerable and sustainable impact will be determined on local communities, in particular the young Adults affected by dislexia through the improvement in number, quality and appeal of EVENTURES ΚΟΙΝ‘s activities targeted at serving the human development and socioeducational inclusion of these categories of adults through education. Furthermore EVENTURES ΚΟΙΝ will implement local meetings with educators from other schools/associations to present the Manual “NFE & TIE join forces to break learning barriers” and its contents in order to create a butterfly effect for these methodologies to be used and introduced in the educational sytems/offer as an envisaged long-term effect.

K1 Youth EVS Chance for a Change

Chance for a Change

The project is a EVS mobility programme coordinated by Mine Vaganti NGO (MVNGO) with UNITED SOCIETIES OF BALKANS (U.S.B.) aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue, social and civic competences as well as the European dimension of active citizenship through an EVS experience of cultural exchange and grassroots community engagement.

Project phases:

– Mobility of 2 Italian volunteers to Greece (Thessaloniki);

– Mobility of 2 Greek volunteers to Italy (Sassari);

EVS mobilities will last 10 months each. “Chance for a Change” is a product of a long-standing partnership between MVNGO and U.S.B. in the E+ frame. The project finds its inspirational grounds in partners’ commitment to foster EVS exchange as a meaningful pattern of active European citizenship connecting personal growth and community development. Human and cultural exchange in the EVS dimension represents an invaluable and concrete opportunity for European societies as a whole to enter into contact with the positive value of cultural diversity, thus developing in the spirit of openness, understanding, awareness of the inner human dignity of the other which is made
compelling by an ever more diversified and interconnected world.

The project draws a mutually reinforcing synergy with the geographical dimension of the present partnership. Italy and Greece are presently facing critical relief and integration challenges related to the present migrant and refugee crisis. According to UNHCR data, migrants Landing in Italy from North Africa amounted to 102,887 individuals in 2017, whereas the figure for Middle Eastern migrant flows to Greece in the same year was 12,440.

The economic crisis has contributed to a growing youth unemployment (with a substantial portion of NEET youth) and to a noticeable radicalization and unrest among youngsters, resulting in mounting rejection for migrants, minorities and for the “others” in general. Chance for a Change foresees a set of cultural community-oriented initiatives bringing young people from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds closer together, creating an added value of social and civic participation, cultural awareness and intercultural dialogue deeply embedded in the cornerstones of personal development and positive ambassadorship characterizing the institute of volunteering.

Partners wish to enhance personal development and social inclusion of NEET volunteers, by means of empowering them as receptive ambassadors of a positive model of diversity.

Project objectives are:

  • Promote volunteering as an effective pathway to developing social/civic competences, tolerance, understanding, intercultural dialogue representing the cornerstone of an active European citizenship.
  • Provide a visible testimony to EVS values of intercultural dialogue, diversity, social and civic engagement to local communities and youngsters.
  • Promote EVS opportunities among youngsters.
  • Develop a mutually beneficial exchange of experiences and sensibilities among youngsters from Mediterranean countries faced by the challenges of migration, integration and youth unemployment/exclusion.
  • Fostering the achievement of E+ priorities related to promoting European values and facilitate access from people with disadvantaged backgrounds/fewer opportunities.

Phases:

MEDIA FOR DIVERSITY (Thessaloniki, Apr 2018-Mar 2019) Participants will support USB’s media initiatives promoting intercultural dialogue, active citizenship, recognition of cultural diversity among migrant/refugee and national youths. USB manages a web radio, an e-TV and e-magazine.

Aims:

  • supporting USB’s staff in awareness-raising media initiatives targeted at national and migrant/refugee youngsters. – supporting USB’s staff in organizing and implementing a Social Campaign on EVS in the frame of promotion of intercultural dialogue, youth inclusion and
    social/civic competence development.
  • providing a positive example of activism, European citizenship and exchange among different cultures to youngsters and to the local community.

PEACE THROUGH CULTURAL ACTIVISM (Sassari, May 2018- Mar 2019)

Participants will support an educational programme aimed at fostering dialogue and creative interaction among the local and migrant NEETs (age 14-29) attending MVNGO’s Office in Sassari.

Aims:

  • supporting educational initiatives based on sharing of different artistic and cultural sensibilities (Share our Cultures, Paint your Future, Dialogue through English, Art through Recycling, Our Storytelling, Play Your Tine, Share with Food) among the local and migrant NEETs frequenting the office.
  • supporting receiving partner’s staff in the organization and implementation of a Final Event displaying artistic and typical products and an Art display of participants’ pictures and storytelling symbolising peaceful coexistence among cultures.
  • providing a positive example of activism, European citizenship and exchange among different cultural identities to youngsters and to the local community.

Both Ways

The project is an EVS initiative coordinated by the Czech organization KURO, with MVNGO in the role of a sending and hosting organization.

The main aim of the project is to support intercultural dialogue, social and civic competences and the European dimension of active citizenship through intercultural exchange and international volunteering.

The project has the following main objectives:

– Support educational initiatives grounded on the sharing between different cultural and artistic sensibilities between the local and the migrant communities involved.

– Support the staff of partner organizations (hosting and sending) in organizing and implementing a Final Event aimed at showcasing final products of the artistic kind as well as typical products.

– Organize an art exhibition aimed at sharing participants’ pictures as well as the storytelling products produced by them.

-Provide young people young people and local communities a positive example of activism, European citizenship and exchange among different cultural identities.

 Project activities are the following:

– Mobility of 2 Italian volunteers in the Czech Republic, with a view to taking part to a SVE experience in the premises of the applicant KURO (April 2019- January 2020).

– Mobility of 2 volunteers from the Czech Republic to Italy, in order to take part in an experience of EVS in the premises of Mine Vaganti NGO  (May 2019- Feb 2020).

Let’s Develop Touristic Skills

The project is coordinated by the Italian educational institution “Liceo Scientifico Statale Carlo Jucci”, with MVNGO in the role of coordinator of students’ mobilities.

“Let’s Develop Touristic Skills” aims at answering the ever increasing need of internationalization of the partner educational institutions as well as delivering on a modernization of the educational offer in connection with the needs of the labour market in the local territory “Rieti”

By means of offering students the opportunity of attending  international internships in line with their educational curricula, the project aims at enhancing the development of language skills, transversal skills and specialized competences connected with the realm of tourism.

The project offers 3th and 4th year students attending local high schools in the area of Rieti the opportunity of taking part in international internships in a series of Irish enterprises operating in the field of sustainable tourism.

The objectives of the project are the following:

  • Enhancing motivation to learn in students by means of promoting international mobility.
  • Developing competences of concrete employability within the field of Tourism with a focus on nature, culture and education.
  • Improving language and cultural knowledge in students, thereby fostering their employability.
  • Drawing a connection between education and the labour market.
  • Creating a network of contacts and favouring the recognition of competences acquired in extra-curricular activities.

Let’s Take Sport Out of Youth

 

“Let’s Take Sport Out of Youth” (LTSOY) is an initiative of organizational development enabling the applicant organization Champions Factory to employ the educational potential of Sport to the promotion of upskilling and entrepreneurial development of disadvantaged Adult categories (low-qualified Adults from disadvantaged rural areas and urban suburbs, migrants) as an instrument of empowerment, employability (also in terms of entrepreneurial engagement) as well as social inclusion.

The applicant organization has achieved substantial results in the use of Sport as an educational tool for the empowerment of young people (also disadvantaged categories of NEETs and migrants) and intends to expand the variety and audience of its offer, at the local and European levels, in the Adult field.

The project is inspired by an assessment of the development needs of the organization for the above identified purpose as well as tailored to answering the challenges highlighted by a specific context analysis.

Eurostat (2017) quantifies in 18,243 million the number of unemployed in the EU-28 total population as of October 2017, making up the 8,8% of the workforce. Females are more affected than men by the unemployment trends, with an average unemployment rate of 10% as compared with 8% for male workers.
Low-qualified Adults are particularly vulnerable to dynamics of long-term unemployment in the EU-28, with 53,6% of Adults in the lowest tiers of educational attainment (up to lower secondary education) unemployed in the EU-28. Eurostat findings show a substantial portion of the EU-28 population belonging to the low tier of educational attainment (20%). First-generation immigrants to Europe are paticularly affected by dynamics of long-term unemployment and social exclusion due to a low level of qualifications compounded by cultural/language barriers.
The EC’s ”Communication on Developing the European Dimension in Sport” (2011) highlights the substantial contribution of Sport “to growth and jobs, with value added and employment effects exceeding average growth rates”, therefore endowing Sport with a specific relevance for the achievement of the objectives set forth in the EU 2020 strategy.

Sport represents an educational avenues for the development of positive attitudes and skills (soft and transversal) useful in the contet of employability as well as forming part of an entrepreneurially-oriented mindset (cooperation, leadership, planning, flexibility, risk-taking, fair play). At the same time, in its quality of universal language crossing social and cultural divide, the educational use of Sport is particularly suited to overcoming the educational constraints affecting disadvantaged categories as well as to bringing positive messages across cultural barriers and belongings.

The appreciation of the positive relationship between Sport and the development of the employability/entrepreneurial potential of young people at the level of EU policies and of the European NGO sector points to the need of compounding the educational dimension of Sport through exploring actions and strategies for its most profitable adaptation to the context and target specific challenges of the Adult field.

Through the present project, Champions Factory aims at laying the grounds for being actively involved in delivering on this needed approach in the local and European dimensions.

ITSOY objectives are the following:

– Increasing organizational capacities in the design and management of project proposals in the Erasmus Plus Adult field, with a particular focus on the use of Sport as a tool of upskilling and entrepreneurial development of disadvantaged Adult targets.
– Acquiring methodologies and professionalism in the use of Sport, in combination with Non Formal Education (NFE) methodologies as an instrument of education fostering the social inclusion, employability and entrepreneurial attitudes/skills of disadvantaged Adult targets.
– Enhancing the range of targets and educational offer of the organization through regular activities, at the local and European levels, connecting the educational potential of Sport with the specific learning needs and constraints of disadvantaged Adult targets.
– Fostering the European dimension of the organization by developing long-term partnership arrangements and regular exchange of knowledge/good practices with established European NGOs working in the Adult field.
– Developing specific Erasmus Plus project initiatives in the Adult field focused on the educational use of Sport as a tool of social inclusion, employability and entrepreneurial development of disadvantaged Adult categories.

K1 Adults s-PORTEND

sPORTEND

The proponent organization Rijeka Sport’s Association is an NGO working at the local and European levels in the field of grassroots Sport and Sport for all, with an offer of Sport activities extended across the spectrum of the different age-bands (from children to Adults).

The organization, long established at the local level with an high level of quality and substantial number of activities implemented, is presently in the process of internationalizing the scope of its activities at the European level, with a priority focus on the Erasmus Plus programme.
At this regard, the applicant has gained substantial achievements with the approval of an Erasmus Plus Collaborative Partnership in the field of Sport in 2016, followed by the successful application of 2 Collaborative Partnerships Sport (a Collaborative Partnership and a Small Collaborative Partnership) in the year 2017. Ground-breaking achievements in the field of the educational us of Sport were registered with the approval of the Erasmus Plus Capacity Building Youth “A Path To TransportAction” (APTSA)- focused on employing Sport as an educational instrument of female inclusion in disadvantaged rural communities- and of the Erasmus Plus KA1 Youth “Sport Education Triggering Entrepreneurial Action” (SETEA), focused on the use of Sport as a tool of entrepreneurial empowerment of disadvantaged young people. Both projects were successfuly applied in 2017.

The successful application of APTSA and SETEA allowed the applicant organization to explore the field of Sport beyond the sphere immediately related to physical activities and healthy lifestile promotion, approaching the educational dimension of Sport practice as an avenue for fostering the acquisition of positive attitudes, soft and transversal skills useful for social inclusion of disadvantaged targets (in the specific cases, rural females and young people with fewer opportunities). Said dimension represents one of the core explications of the Education Through Sport (ETS) methodology, connecting Non Formal Education (NFE) and Sport practice for the achievement of socially appreciable goals of social inclusion and empowerment by means of education.

In this process, the cooperation established with the Italian partner MVNGO, which contributed to the development of both projects through its expertise in the field of ETS, and the ensuing exchange of knowledge and ideas, were crucial in ushering in a process of internal reflection wherein the applicant appreciated the groundbreaking potential of an integration between its activities in the field of Sport practice and the educational orientation ensured by ETS methods.
As an organization addressing a wide audience of targets across the different age-bands, the applicant is in an optimal position to cater to the educational and social inclusion needs of the Adult age-band in its area of operation, as well as to bring about a positive impact on the wider scenario of educational offer and project design efforts in the Erasmus Plus Adult field.

Amidst an internal reflection about the most proper strategies to bring the aforementioned design to fruition, there emerged a shared assessment of the core critical lacks of the organization in need of solution through staff learning and international cooperation, and markedly:
1- The lack of internal staff professionalism in the field of the educational use of Sport (ETS methodology), specifically in the field of Adult learning.
2- Lacking internal capacities in employing ETS as an instrument of entrepreneurial education for the Adult target .
3- Insufficient networking capacities and thematic partnerships in the sector, with a particular focus on European NGO experienced in the field of Adult education and ETS, hampering the internationalization of the organization’s activities and educational offer.

Based on the findings of internal reflection and assessment, the applicant decided to invest a specific effort in developing the competences of staff (Trainers, Project Managers and Staff Members) as well as establishing joint proposals and long-term mechanisms of coordination with NGOs from other European countries.

The specific fields of staff development to be addressed were identified as the following:
– Knowledge, skills and competences in the use of ETS as an avenue for the empowerment of disadvantaged targets in the Adult field.
– Knowledge, skills and competences in employing ETS as an instrument of entrepreneurial education in the Adult field.
– Knowledge, skills and competences in networking at the European level, with a main view to the establishment of long-term partnerships with likeminded NGOs in the Adult education field.

The project foresees the following mobilities:
1- Mobility of 5 Trainers forming part of the regular staff of the applicant to Bulgaria (Sofia), in order to attend a Training Course on the use of Education Through Sport methods in the Adult field hosted by the partner organization Champions Factory.
2- Mobility of 5 Trainers from the applicant’s regular staff to Italy (Sassari), to attend a Training Course on the use of ETS for the development of entrepreneurial skills and competences in Adult learners hosted by the partner organization Mine Vaganti NGO.
3- Mobility of 2 staff members with directional responsibility to Italy (Sassari) for a Job Shadowing in the premises of the partner organization Mine Vaganti NGO. The Job Shadowing will concern with exchanging knowledge and good practices in ETS and Adult education as well as developing long-term partnerships and joint initiatives in the Erasmus Plus Adult field.

K1 Youth YE Ass. Pitagora “You Parkour”

“You Parkour!” was a Youth Exchange implemented in Sassari between April 20-27 2018. The project was applied by Associazione Paritaria Pitagora (ACP), with the support of MVNGO in project design and implementation.

MVNGO and ACP have developed a long-standing cooperation, under whose frame MVNGO supports the Association in the development and implementation of its project proposals in the field of Erasmus Plus KA1 mobility.

The Youth Exchange involved 44 Young people potential Youth leaders aged 14-20 from the partner countries, Sweden and Italy.

The aim of the project was to foster creative and innovative methodologies of non formal education between Sweden and Italy based on the combination between Hip Hop and Parkour as forms of artistic expression (Street Arts).

Parkou and Hip Hop were foreseen in light of their being perfect communicational vehicles to reach out to nowadays’ Young people empowering them to bring about social change at the community level.

Learning objectives of the YE were:

  • To raise knowledge on urban social issues and revitalize decadent spaces of city centers by stimulating active Youth participation.
  • To explore new creative tools of NFE education enabling youngsters to become  future Youth leaders of Tomorrow, solving the challenges of their communities.
  • To promote intercultural dialogue and mutual Exchange between Italy and Sweden.
  • To promote healthy lifestyles by means of alternative instruments as parkour.

Growing Social in Storytelling

“Growing Social in Storytelling” (GSS) is an Erasmus Plus KA1 Adult Education project coordinated by Mine Vaganti NGO which was carried out from  1st June 2017 to 31st May 2019.

GSS comprises an international Consortium of 3 partner organizations from Italy, Cyprus (DOREA) and Germany (Comparative Research Network).

The project aims at developing the competences of regular members of MVNGO’s staff (Bloggers, Trainers and general staff members) to employ Storytelling and Digital Storytelling as instruments of communication and entrepreneurial development as well as a tool for educational empowerment of disadvantaged adult targets (migrants, NEETs etc.).

MVNGO has tested experience in the professional use of Non Formal Education (NFE) methods,  successfully employed in recent years through the implementation of a set of NFE workshops focused on intercultural and interfaith dialogue in the area of North Sardinia.

Amid successful implementation, MVNGO developed an internal reflection/analysis over prospected diffusion/dissemination strategies, letting emerge a shared assessment underlining the organizational lack of knowledge in innovative communication strategies.

Digital storytelling is the most recent extension of storytelling towards digital, audio-visual media, fostering an impacting use of the possibilities granted by today’s digital world and enabling communication across language and cultural barriers.

Storytelling is also a powerful tool in entrepreneurial education and business development, which acquire a specific importance for both the inner development of the organization in an entrepreneurial perspective and its activities of educational empowerment with disadvantaged adult targets (migrants, NEETs etc.).

The project “GSS” foresees to achieve the established goals through the following activities to be implemented during the project:

Training Course on Storytelling as a tool of entrepreneurial enhancement and education involving 5 regular members of MVNGO in the premises of the partner organization Comparative Research Network (CRN) in Berlin.

Training Course on Digital Storytelling as a tool of communication  in the premises of the partner organisation DOREA (Cyprus), with the participation of 4 MVNGO Trainers.

Job Shadowing involving 6 regular staff members of MVNGO in the premises of the partner organization CRN (Berlin) and focused on developing regular mechanisms of cooperation and acquiring/exchanging knowledge as well as best practices in the use of Storytelling and Digital Storytelling.
