Cosme Growth

Mine Vaganti NGO was the applicant of a project proposal for the specific Call “Entrepreneurial  capacity building for Young migrants” in the frame of the GROWTH programme of the European Union.

Mine Vaganti MGO was the applicant of the project in cooperation with a Consortium composed of 6 organizations from 5 European countries (Italy, Spain, Germany, Croatia, United Kingdom).

“Entrepreneurship Co-DeWise” aims at supporting the socioeconomic integration ofdisadvantaged young migrant adults motivated to start-up and grow their entrepreneurial ideas by means of an entrepreneurial empowerment process grounded on Co-Design based training. Project entrepreneurial empowerment concept encompasses the understanding of the broader social and legal environment, local habits, adopted forms of communication, and non-written rules characterizing local societies as transversal enabling factors of entrepreneurship. People newly arrived from third-countries face complex challenges among which their “insufficient skills and experience (especially language barriers, low levels of
education, or a lack of local work experience; difficulties navigating host-country labour markets…); and formal and informal obstacles to employment” (Policies to get immigrants into middle-skilled work in Europe, Migration Policy Institute,2014).

The EC, in its “Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan” highlighted that the barriers limiting migrants’ access to the formal labour market also tend to push them towards self-employment at the same time pointing out that “notwithstanding that migrants have higher business creation rates than the rest of the population they fail more due to a lack of information, knowledge and language skills”.

The specific objectives of ECoDeW are as follows:
– Understanding the composition, problems and needs of disadvantaged migrants facing the difficulties of accessing local labour markets and intending to launch their own a business;
– Co-creation and testing of a tailor-made scheme of training and mentoring for supporting young migrants to reach their objectives;
– Raising wider public attention towards the situation of third country nationals intending to start an active entrepreneurial life in Europe by enlarging the existing network of
organisations, people and companies supporting them and formulating policy  recommendations towards the relevant public bodies for improving the conditions of migrant entrepreneurship.

ECoDeW methodology is grounded on Co-Design based Training, Mentoring and Storytelling to be used as a tool for needs assessment but also as part of the co-design of the training curriculum and the pilot trainings. Mentoring schemes will be used as means of knowledge and experience transfer between established and potential entrepreneurs.

Fondazione Con il Sud Call 2018

Mine Vaganti NGO is a partner in a project proposal in the frame of the  “Bando Ambiente 2018” of the Fondazione CON IL SUD.

The Call, expired on June 8, 2018, focused on the prevention and reduction of environmental risks within Parks and Protected Natural Areas in southern regions.

In fact, over 200 protected natural areas in southern Italy are threatened by loss of biodiversity, pollution, fires and, more generally, by hydro-geological instability. A heritage of such a great cultural and economic value must be protected and valorized through an effort extended to the entire community.

The “Bando Ambiente 2018” is embedded in the logic of the European Biodiversity Strategy 2020 and of the National Biodiversity Strategy, which recognize the value of ecosystem services in decision-making and spatial planning processes, in order to adequately conserve and capitalize upon environmental capital in the context of sustainable development policies.

In this context it is also essential to actively involve the communities residing in protected areas and in the surrounding areas, through the promotion of initiatives and mechanisms that are able to promote the diffusion of behaviors aimed at the care and defense of the environment.

Discovering ancient Roots

MVNGO was the coordinating organisation of the Europe for Citizens project “Discovering ancient Roots”.

The aim targeted by the Project was to underline the importance of European integration through traditions.

The Municipality of Nuoro in Sardinia (Italy) and Elche in Spain have many similarities: they share very ancient roots and common values. Ancient traditions are fundamental veichle for promoting a sustainable tourism for their territory.

The project consisted in gathering 50 participants of different ages from both municipalities in Sardinia to create a moment of knowledge and mutual understanding and an occasion for exchanging ideas, raising awareness about common issues and studying solutions to common problems, discovering respective cultural heritage and having the pleasure to meet each other.

The main theme of the project was based on the promotion of social tourism (common roots) mostly focus on traditions like carnival, folks, food and beverages, etc.

With this project we proposed ourselves to raise awareness about the valorization of both traditions in order to attract tourists creating new opportunities of employability. One of the aims was to share best practices about cultural tourism. Three main areas of activities:

Cultural events: intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding through ancient rites;

Events about active citizenship and employability: cultural tourism and new job opportunities, analysis of common problems and how to face them creating twining cultural events;

Workshops and lectures about common issues: European citizenship, cultural tourism (educational tour in the archeological site area).

The choice of these areas was aimed at allowing the direct involvement of citizens, cultural events and informal meetings. Nuoro and Elche have in common a strong touristic tradition but usually, tourists usually don’t experience the full beauty of these regions, but just the sea. In the context of the above, the two municipalities read and signed the Twinning Oath.

Horizon 2020 Youth Passport 2020

Youth Passport 2020

Mine Vaganti NGO recently presented a project proposal in the frame of the Horizon 2020 programme as the leading partner of a Consortium of 12 partner organizations, Universities, NGOs and corporations.

“Youth Passport 2020″ (YP2020) was a proposal for a long term project with specific attention to European mobility (EM) effects.

Despite looming large on the horizon in European policy discussions on education, training and youth, transnational mobility undertaken for learning purposes remains in many ways a curiously under-researched phenomenon, both from a pedagogical and a sociological perspective.
What is the actual scope of the activities? How many people in Europe (young and old) go abroad for a period of time to acquire new skills, competences and knowledge; in what contexts does this take place; and how is this financed (and by whom)?
And what is the precise rationale for these activities, how are they organized and outcomes recognized, and what is the nature of the interplay between the various programmes, schemes and initiatives?
These are the questions that this project proposal sought to answer.
The proposal focused on learning mobility in mobility schemes outside the European action programmes merged in Erasmus+, and it complements a similar study on mobility in higher education.
These were the main goals of the proposed technical solution:
1. Establish a multi-directional channel to achieve actual interaction among all the policy-making and public decision-making stakeholders (EACEA, National Agencies, businesses, universities, NGOs, young activists associations, etc.) in order to foster collaborative decision making.
2. Offer a comprehensive set of civic engagement services that, unlike conventional approaches, are specifically adapted to young people needs, habits and interests.
3. Define and develop a full set of methodologies that rule the application workflow to ensure that the proposed solution is able to meet the requirements from both ends (i.e. youngsters and policy makers).
4. Define end-to-end methods to follow-up on young people issued reports, from their creation until their processing by public authority representatives.
5. Implement a statistical analysis mechanism.
