CB Start-Up "Lighthouse"

The project “Start-up lighthouse” aim to create for 20 months 1 active network of 28 youth workers, educators and creative change-makers from European and African youth non-profits, interested in cultural heritage and rural development, NFE, social innovation and entrepreneurship. At the end of the project, they will be able to guide local youngsters with concrete tools to turn abstract ideas into cultural start-up, while understanding why cultural change precedes social change and how cultural entrepreneurship model can positively transform local communities.

Project TOPICs: 

Cultural heritage and rural development, NFE, social innovation and entrepreneurship. 

Specific objectives 

1: Increase the organisational capacity of 28 youth workers from 7 NGOs to offer customized learning experiences to youth people who intend to launch a cultural start-up, develop their entrepreneurial mindset and connected skills through: 3 TC and 3 sets of playing card activities about cultural entrepreneurship.   

2: Map and share info about the hotspots of 7 countries – cultural start-ups, entrepreneurship educational centres, funding opportunities for cultural start-ups, mentorship opportunities through 7 digital/printed maps (7 languages).    

3: 1 awareness campaign “Discover your roots” around cultural entrepreneurship as a solution to grow communities and connect youth with cultural heritage.

 

TARGET GROUPs 

3 different target groups: 

– youth workers; 

– young people (NEET, with fewer opportunities, youth with addictions, migrants); 

– Youth NGOs.

 

APPROACH / METHODOLOGY 

Implementation methodology: aligned to the particularities of target groups identified through the need analysis and partner organisations and encourage the valorisation of complementary expertise of the partners involved in the project. The proposed intervention is complex because it connects under the same project the different expertise of the partners and mentors which all have as a common goal the professional growth of youth through quality tools and educational interventions.

 

Project ACTIVITIES

TC 1 “The Explorer” – Bucharest Romania – 21.07 – 29.07.2021 (7 working days + 2 travel days) 

Coordinator: Romanian Partner 

N° of Participant: 28 youth workers (4 per organization), project coordinator + 2 trainers 

Age: +18 

Profile: previous experience in NFE and EE, motivation.  

Activity Description: The trainees will get familiar with EE, cultural entrepreneurship and its relationship with youth and test a selection of activities from the first pocket activities cards set that follows EntreComp framework.  

TC 2 “The incubator” – Étang-Salé, Reunion– 15 – 23.11.2021 (7 working days+2 travel days) 

Coordinator: French organisation 

N° of Participant: 28 youth workers (4 per organization), project coordinator + 2 trainers 

Age: +18 

Profile: previous experience in NFE and EE, motivation.  

Activity Description: The workers explore the process of a creating a cultural start-up from idea to implementation starting from identified community needs. Before they can provide mentorship and guidance to the young people they are working with, first they have to understand the journey of creating a start-up. These prototypes will be continued in the following training course.  

TC 3 “The incubator” – Antananarivo, Madagascar – 01.03/2022 – 09.03.2022 (7 working days+2 travel days) 

Coordinator: MG organisation 

N° of Participant: 28 youth workers (4 per organization), project coordinator + 2 trainers 

Age: +18 

Profile: previous experience in NFE and EE, motivation.  

The youth workers will continue to develop their projects, however from a growing phase where the following topics will be covered: financial literacy, funding opportunities, brand identity & marketing & tools for young entrepreneurs.

Intellectual Outcomes: 

IO1: 3 sets of playing card activities for youth workers: 1. The explorer; 2. The incubator; 3. The accelerator with step-by-step learning processes for future youth entrepreneurs.  

IO2: 7 digital/printed maps with the hotspots of countries involved with places, educational – mentorship – funding entities, inspirational cultural start-ups available on Monomyths Learning platform.
